Accessible Rugby Fitness in Taunton
OMH partner SASP continue to tackle inequality in sport and physical activity in and around Somerset. As part of their community engagement work, they have been supporting the inspirational Gladiator Wheelchair Rugby Team. The club is made up of Taunton-based veterans and civilians with a disability. Wheelchair Rugby is a sport that helps people who thought rugby impossible possible.

At a recent team training session in Bridgwater, Justine, volunteer chair for the Gladiators and Sheila who is part of the armed forces team at Somerset FT spoke about how physical activity benefits mental health. The Gladiators Team offer veterans and civilians with a disability – fitness, peer support and camaraderie. For many players, joining the team has been a crucial part of their mental health recovery journey.
