Age UK Somerset
If you are an older person living in Somerset, Age UK Somerset offers a Wellbeing Service to ensure that every older person has the opportunity to live their best life.
Wellbeing Services
Because everyone’s needs and preferences are different, the Wellbeing Service is made up of three different parts:
Friendly Phone Calls: If you join this programme, you’ll be matched with a friendly volunteer who will give you a call for a chat on a regular basis. This provides an invaluable lifeline for those living alone and new friendships can be formed by hearing a friendly voice over the phone.
Wellbeing Friends: Age UK Somerset matches a friendly volunteer with an older client in their local area for a regular home visit to provide companionship and a window to the outside world. It’s all about new friendships and enjoyable company and conversation to brighten the day.
Walk and Talk: Would you like to be more active and go out for a gentle walk with a friendly volunteer for company? Then Walk and Talk could be right up your street!
To apply for any of these services, just call 01823 345615 for an initial chat and then Age UK Somerset will post an application form.
Could you volunteer for the Wellbeing Service?
Could you be part of the Wellbeing Service and help support those who need it? Age UK Somerset is always looking for more friendly volunteers to be part of the service to ensure that they can support every older person who is referred to them through Open Mental Health.
If you’d like to become a volunteer and support an older person, please contact Age UK Somerset directly on 01823 345623 or email volunteers@ageuksomerset.org.uk
If you are an older person experiencing mental health difficulties please get in touch with Mindline Somerset locally on 01823 276892 or freephone 0800 138 1692. We are here to help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
