We are Open Mental Health
We are an alliance of mental health organisations who have come together to provide 24/7 support to adults in Somerset.
Our shared ambition is to ensure that people living with mental health problems get the right support at the right time. Working together, we support people to live a full life, by enabling access to specialist mental health services, housing support, debt and employment advice, volunteering opportunities, peer support, community activities and physical exercise, to help support and improve their wellbeing and quality of life.
We provide a number of support services for adults across Somerset including:
- Holistic wellbeing workers
- (1 to 1 and group support)
- Peer supporters/peer support workers
- Psychologists, mental health nurses,
- Occupational therapists
- Older and young people specialists
- Eating disorder specialists
- Developmental trauma specialists
- Support around money and benefits
- Housing support
By working together in partnership, we want to ensure that there is ‘no wrong door’ for anyone who needs help.
Open Mental Health Locality Hubs
We use, what we call, a locality model at Open Mental Health to ensure that individuals get the right care with their mental health. This means that when an individual contacts us for support they will be referred to one of our four locality hubs across Somerset. Within these hubs sits a team of professionals who together will discuss which Open Mental Health services are best placed to support a person on an individual basis.
The professional teams can include the below:
- Holistic wellbeing workers (focusing on 1:1 and group support)
- Peer supporters/peer support workers
- Psychologists, mental health nurses, occupational therapists
- Older and young people specialists
- Eating disorder specialists
- Developmental trauma specialists
- Money and benefits support
- Housing support
This enables us to offer the right support and services for every adult who comes to Open Mental Health.
The locality hubs currently sit across Taunton and West Somerset, Sedgemoor, South Somerset and Mendip. These hubs are often virtual and cannot be visited by individuals looking for support with their mental health.
