Fluctuations and changes in our mental wellbeing are common, and this is a normal response to life events. It is likely that we all know someone close to us who might require some support.
Firstly, the support of friends and family can make a big difference to people’s mental wellbeing, so reaching out and offering support can be very helpful. If you feel that the person requires additional support, there are local services across Somerset available to them.

Mindline

Mindline Somerset offers support 24 hour a day, 7 days a week. This service is available to offer a listening service, emotional support in times of distress, and practical next steps for people who are interested in getting support for their mental health. This includes linking people in with services that would be able to offer appropriate support.

GP (Doctor)
- Has the person spoken with their GP about how they are feeling?
- Could you encourage them to do so?
If they feel unable to speak to their GP, or they don’t want to, and you are very worried about them you could arrange to speak with their GP about your concerns. The GP would not be able to share any information with you, but them knowing your concerns will put them in a better position to be able to support your friend/loved one.
Crisis Safe Space
If you are concerned about the emotional state of the person or believe they need out of hours support, you can contact our Crisis Safe Space service. The service offered by our partners Mindline in Somerset and Second Step provides a safe space for individuals to speak confidentially and get information about other services in their area that can help them.
