Talking about suicide can feel like a scary prospect. When someone we care about is going through a difficult time, we often worry about saying the wrong thing. We might feel out of our depth or fear that we’ll make the situation worse. It is completely natural to feel this way, but having the confidence to start a gentle, supportive conversation can make a huge difference.
To help build that confidence, Every Life Matters has teamed up with Somerset Council to offer free suicide prevention training to anyone living or working in Somerset.
What Does the Training Involve?
You don’t need to be a mental health professional or have any previous training to join. These sessions are for everyone and focus on practical skills that help everyday people make a difference.
By taking part in a free session, you’ll learn how to:
- Recognise the signs that someone might be struggling.
- Find the confidence to start a safe conversation.
- Point people in the right direction to get appropriate help.
How to Take Part
