Volunteers’ Week ran from Monday, 3rd June, to Sunday, 9th June. Volunteering has so many benefits—it can help our mental health, boost our social circle, give us employment skills, and make the world a better, kinder place.
At OMH we are endlessly grateful for the unswerving dedication and hard work of our Expert by Experience Leaders and Champions who give OMH an authentic voice of lived experience.
All across the OMH alliance, partners celebrated the wonderful work of volunteers.
- Mind in Somerset hosted a series of events in Yeovil, Bridgwater and Taunton about their volunteering opportunities.
- Somerset Age UK gave a big thank you to all their volunteers and has an interactive map showing where new ones are most needed.
- Take a look at Chard Watch’s volunteer page for details of their current volunteer role vacancies.
- Rethink Mental Illness has details on how to volunteer as a Peer Mentor with OMH
- Somerset Citizens Advice needs people like you to join its team of volunteers, who support local people over the phone, via email, and in person.
- Spark Somerset shared an inspiring story about how OMH Champion Clare uses her lived experience to help others.
You can check out the Volunteers’ Week website and head over to our Volunteering Opportunities page for ways to get involved in your community. Spark Somerset’s volunteer service can help you find your ideal voluntary role, too.
