Open Mental Health: Local Support for your Patients
Open Mental Health is a Somerset partnership where the NHS, the local council, and community organisations work as one team. Our goal is simple: to make sure that any of your patients who are finding things difficult can get the right support at the right time. To discover more about us, watch our new animation above.
For World Mental Health Day, we’ve put together a handy poster complete with QR codes that link to information about the services Open Mental Health provides. Check it out below and display it in your workplace so your colleagues know where to find the mental health support patients might need.
How to Refer
Referring a patient to Open Mental Health is straightforward, just complete our professional referral form online with as much information as you can. It’s a simple process. Once we receive the form, our team will reach out to the individual to discuss their needs and link them with the most appropriate partner organisations and projects.
Mindline Somerset
Mindline provides mental health support twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Your patients can call 01823 276892 or use the freephone number 0800 138 1692.
Crisis Safe Space
Crisis Safe Space is an out-of-hours service for people struggling with their mental health. By phoning Mindline on the numbers above, callers can book a one-to-one session with a member of the Crisis Safe Space team who will be willing to listen and ready to help. Sessions are held either face-to-face or virtually, depending on the location. Watch this Crisis Safe Space video to learn more.
Groups and Courses
There is a wealth of local mental health support available through Open Mental Health with a wide range of supportive groups, courses, exercise, and social opportunities. We use a locality model to ensure each individual receives the right care for their mental health within their own community.
OMH and the NHS – working together
If you’ve ever wondered what exactly Open Mental Health is and how different services in Somerset can work together to support peoples mental health, we’re sharing a short video from Dr Sathya Cherukuri, Associate Medical Director for Mental Health and Learning Disabilities from Somerset NHS Foundation Trust that answers those questions. And if you want a bit of extra information, visit the section on our site for healthcare professionals.
